A Celebration Everyone Can Get Behind!* →
Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day!
* so long as you ignore the fact that bubblewrap sits in dumps for a million years. Shhhh. We aren’t talking about that right now.

Sigh.
I just found a damp spot on the wall of my kitchen where the paint is beginning to separate from the wall.
Between this, the heat going out on the coldest days of the year and my neighbour’s new and expanding love of REM (we’re up to 3-4 songs now, I believe from the same CD), I’m beginning to feel like this is a conspiracy.
I CANNOT MOVE, LIFE. THIS IS CURRENTLY NOT...

Quotas Aren't Just For Political Correctness →
I thought this was interesting in the wake of several separate threads wandering around the ‘net about Affirmative Action. This article deals with gender quotas rather than racial, but I think a lot of the statements could be cross-applied and it’s an interesting read regardless.
The top-down approach may not be popular, but it works. […] Implementing these requirements,...

Do You Know What is Really Really Mean?
Watching a series on DVD.
With a typical melodramatic and “OH MY GOD ONE OF THREE OF OUR MAIN CHARACTERS MIGHT BE DEAD” ending.
And knowing that the next season is not out yet, not because the show isn’t OVER, but because for some reason they’re only releasing them once every six months.
HATE HATE HATE.

A Gush on Living in a Good Neighbourhood
So - like.
I love my neighbourhood - I don’t just mean I love where I live and such, though I do love my building (heat going out three times in one week notwithstanding), and the architecture where I live, but I think what I love most is the vibe of my neighbourhood. I go to places where people know me. At the diner I go to, usually for pancakes, the waiters are almost always the same,...

Things I Have Learned Today (The Music Edition)
Iron & Wine’s latest album kind of disappointed me (just … nothing caught me! it actually sounded like it might annoy me!)
There is an album or something called “LMFAO”
Justin Beiber is easily mistaken for a girl (this isn’t much of a revelation, more a reminder)
I can now play and sing over a strumming pattern I could not before. I managed to do this by...

I Need a Non-Work Home!
The pro-active defensiveness:
Alright, I acknowledge what I am about to complain about is something that people in offices everywhere will say OH BOOHOO! and I acknowledge that I am very very fortunate to have a job which allows me the flexibility to basically work from home for two months (and normally, I can work from home twice a week). And in fact, under normal circumstances if I were given...

Grant is my business partner in our firm, The Future Well. I encouraged him to start a blog using tumblr. It’s awesome, mostly for all that British humour.
